သူမရဲ႕ သား (၂)ဦးဟာ ၿဗိတိန္ႏိုင္ငံသားေတြ ျဖစ္ၾကပါတယ္။ ဒါေပမယ့္ အေရးတၾကီးေထာက္ျပစရာရွိတာက ဒီလို ျဗိတိန္ႏိုင္ငံသား ျဖစ္ေနတာဟာ ျဖစ္ခ်င္လို႕ ျဖစ္တာမဟုတ္ဘူး ဆိုတာပါပဲ။ သူတို႕ဟာ (၁၉၈၉)အထိ ျမန္မာႏို္င္ငံသားေတြ ျဖစ္ခဲ့ၾကၿပီး အဲဒီႏွစ္က်မွ ေဒၚစုအေပၚထားတဲ့ ရန္ညႈိးေၾကာင့္ စစ္အစိုးရက သူတို႕ (၂)ဦးရဲ႕ ျမန္မာႏိုင္ငံသားအျဖစ္ကို ရုပ္သိမ္းပစ္ခဲ့တာ ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ၿဗိတိန္အစိုးရက သူတို႕ကို ၿဗိတိန္ႏိုင္ငံသားအျဖစ္ သတ္မွတ္ေပးခဲ့တယ္ဆိုတာ သူတို႕က (stateless) ႏိုင္ငံမဲ့ျဖစ္မသြားေအာင္ ကာကြယ္ေပးဖို႕သာ ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ စစ္အစိုးရက သူမရဲ႕ မိသားစုကုိ အတိတ္ကာလမွာ ျပဳမူဆက္ဆံခဲ့တဲ့အတုိင္း လက္ရွိအစိုးရက သူမကို ဆက္ၿပီး ႏွိပ္စက္ေနမယ္ဆိုရင္ အဓိပၸါယ္ မရွိပါဘူး။
Her two sons hold British citizenship. It is important to point out, however, that this is not by choice. Both were Myanmar citizens until 1989, when the military junta stripped them of their status out of spite toward Daw Suu. The UK government granted them British status only to prevent them from becoming stateless. For the current government to continue to punish Daw Suu as a result of the junta’s past treatment of her family is absurd. (Myanmar Times)
