BOLAVEN (JULIAN) is expected to continue moving NW to NNW-ward during the next 24 to 36 hours…turning and recurving to the North to NNE during the next 48 to 72 hours. On the forecast track, the core of BOLAVEN will move across the East China and the Yellow Sea starting late tonight thru Tuesday morning – passing close to the west of Jeju Island late Monday evening. By Tuesday afternoon, Bolaven will make landfall over North Korea and cross the communist nation Tuesday evening…and will be off Northeastern China on Wednesday afternoon.
Maximum Sustained Winds (1-min. avg) remain near 215 km/hr (115 knots) with higher gusts. A decrease in strength will be expected throughout the forecast period…and BOLAVEN will be downgraded into a Tropical Storm (TS) after making landfall over North Korea on Tuesday afternoon.
Typhoon Force Winds (118 km/hr or more) extend outward up to 130 kilometers (70 nautical miles) from the center…and Tropical Storm Force Winds (62-117 km/hr) extend outward up to 425 kilometers (230 nautical miles). BOLAVEN is a very large-sized tropical cyclone with a diameter of 1295 kilometers (700 nautical miles) across.

MONDAY AFTERNOON: Weakens while accelerating rapidly NNW across the Yellow Sea…approaching Jeju Island [5PM AUG 27: 31.2N 125.7E @ 205kph].
TUESDAY AFTERNOON: Makes landfall over North Korea…weakens to Category 1 [11AM AUG 28: 38.7N 126.2E @ 150kph].
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON: Just a Tropical Storm…moving inland across Northeastern China [5PM AUG 29: 46.2N 130.8E @ 65kph].

5:00 PM PhT Sun August 26, 2012 UPDATE3-DAY FORECAST OUTLOOK & ANALYSIS* TEMBIN (IGME) is expected to move slowly East to ENE during the next 12 to 24 hours…turning NE to NNE within 36 to 48 hours…then Northward by 72 hours. On the forecast track, the core of TEMBIN will re-enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by late Monday evening and make landfall over Southern Taiwan on Tuesday morning. It will traverse Southern and Eastern Taiwan throughout Tuesday and will move out of Taiwan through the northern coastline by early Wednesday morning. The u-turn track of TEMBIN is mainly due to the pull and interaction with Typhoon BOLAVEN which will dictate its motion.
Maximum Sustained Winds (1-min. avg) have increased to near 185 km/hr (100 knots) with higher gusts. A decrease in strength will be expected during the next 2 to 3 days.
Typhoon Force Winds (118 km/hr or more) extend outward up to 65 kilometers (35 nautical miles) from the center…and Tropical Storm Force Winds (62-117 km/hr) extend outward up to 260 kilometers (140 nautical miles). TEMBIN is an average-sized tropical cyclone with a diameter of 555 kilometers (300 nautical miles) across.

MONDAY AFTERNOON: Completes its u-turn…starts moving east to ENE towards Southern Taiwan…about 385 km West of Basco, Batanes [5PM AUG 27: 20.6N 118.4E @ 175kph].
TUESDAY AFTERNOON: Traversing Eastern Taiwan…approaching Hualien City…about 30 km SW of the city…weakens rapidly [5PM AUG 28: 23.8N 121.4E @ 130kph].
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON: Weakens into a Tropical Storm as it moves across the East China Sea…approaching Metropolitan Shanghai in Eastern China [5PM AUG 29: 27.7N 122.2E @ 100kph].
